I needed a birthday card for my sister, the bird-watcher. Her cards pretty much always have purple and either birds or lilacs. This year I decided that I really wanted to use this fun Unity owl. I enjoyed browsing through today's inspiration site and was just generally inspired to use a stencil--but with some texture. I was going to use my Nuvo glimmer paste, but when I opened up my drawer of backgrounds to see if I had anything good to stencil onto this one was sitting right on top with the gray texture paste dots all over. So I used that instead. I sponged purple inks onto it and declared it a lovely sky. Then I went digging in my scrap drawer for a good cloud and ground. I think both the distant ground and the cloud are leftover pieces of recycled greeting card. You can get some really fabulous patterned paper out of old greeting cards! I especially liked the ground piece for today because it looks like a stencil pattern to me.

oh that is cool, I love that you found a way to recycle the cards and showcase the texture of the paper rather than framing an image you know? ( its very cool) Love the colors and the textures this has too for that silly bird.
