I've been AWOL again...I flew out of state to provide care for my sister after cancer surgery. It all happened so quickly, I was not able to get my Christmas cards uploaded to SCS, so I'm playing catch-up challenges and uploading cards all rolled into one.
Again, this card is part of the Totally Lovin' Christmas 10-card kit designed by Liz Thayer. I did not go to the card class but purchased the card pieces to assembly on my own and make any modifications as they sprang to mind. Before beginning, I checked out SCS challenges to see if any looked like they would fit and adapted my card as needed in some cases. I kept the original layout, which coordinated with my Featured Stamper inspiration card and that, along with my Inspiration Challenge choice, confirmed that my card needed more color, thus I added the Soft Suede cardbase and sentiment ink. I also embossed two more tree and fussy cut edges to layer one on another for more depth and texture. I added a film of fine glitter to the top tree as well.
When all was said and done, playing challenge catch-up, I found my card fit 17 challenges...some newer and some old, as follows:
1. TLC772 - Technique Lover's Challenge - 12/19/19 - Texture Trio. The challenge required you to find three ways to add texture to your card. I used 3-layer matting, 3-layer white embossed trees each popped upon the other, a popped focal panel, and die etching/ embossing.
2. WORD1219 = December 2019 Monthly Fan Club Themes - 12/15/19 - A Star is Born. One interpretation was to think holidays and let things sparkle and shine. My white embossed tree takes on a sheen from the embossing, but also sparkles with the fine layer of glitter. My supplies to fit STAR are: S=sentiment/ sparkle/ shine; T=tree/ thinking of you; A=adhesives; R=rectangle, Recollections glitter.
3. IC732 = Inspiration Challenge - 12/14/19 - LTD Commodities. I chose this product on their website for color inspiration for my card. It inspired me to definitely add the Soft Suede cardbase and use a darker ink on the sentiment.
4. FS670 - Featured Stamper Challenge - 12/08/19 - Nancy aka Pansey65. Browse her gallery, find a card to CASE or for inspiration, make at least two changes. I have selected Birds and Blooms Card by Pansey65 at Splitcoaststampers for its layout and color inspiration.
5. CAS562 - Clean and Simple Challenge - 12/2/19 - Swirling Snowflakes. Using snow in some fashion on your card was required.
6. MSP28 - MISTI Monthly Mondays Challenge - 12/2/19 - Snow. Again, use snow on your card.
7. AOCC19DEC - All Occasion Card Challenge - 12/1/19. Set goals on number and theme of cards needed each month and try to meet your goal. This was one of my 6 Christmas cards needed.
8. WT767 - Ways to Use It Challenge - 11/21/19 - Take Out the Kraft. Required use of Kraft colored paper. I substituted Stampin' Up's Crumb Cake, which falls right into the shading of many Kraft papers.
9. S2S19TT - Stamp to Save Challenge - 11/21/19 - Snowdrifts. Use snow, snowdrifts, snowy hills...you get the drift...
10. MIX353 - Mix-Ability Challenge - 11/1/19 - Snowflakes Falling. Use snow on your card and at least to mediums. I used white embossing, a white gel pen, Versamark ink, and stamping ink on my card.
11. CCC19NOV - Christmas Card Challenge - 11/1/19 - Think about Christmas Baking. Use something related...gingerbreads, houses, or maybe the color of gingerbread. My card uses the color of baked gingerbread cookies.
12. F4A504 - Free for All Challenge - 10/18/19 - Winter Encouragement. Let's see winter stuff on your card...sweaters, mittens, coffee mugs, snow, snowy trees...etc.
13. ABC11T20 - Alphabet Challenge, Round 11 - Letter T - 7/17/19. T= Thinking of You, Trees.
14. SC748 - Sketch Challenge - 5/8/19. My card is horizontal rather than vertical. #2/#3 matted panel is enlarged and moved left more than original; the LARGE sentiment is placed to right of panel rather than to lower right of panel
15. MMTPT559 - Teapot Challenge - 4/9/19 - It's All About the Recipe. My recipe is Coffee Ice Cream Cake. The three layers of this cake...the brownie base, the coffee ice cream center, and vanilla ice cream with added chocolate swirls top reminds me of the layers and colors of my card, but I know the ice cream cake is better!
16. SCSCCJAN19 - Fan Club Monthly Christmas Challenge - 1/1/19 - It All Starts Up North...with Santa, toys, workshops, snow, ice, reindeer, etc. Make a holiday card based on this idea. My card depicts a lovely snow-laden tree to be found up there at the North Pole for sure!
17. USEIT2019 - Use It Challenge - annual/ ongoing. Use old crafting stuff gathering dust from lack of use or new stuff never opened, also gathering dust! I bought the Winter Woods stamp set in 2018 and only used it once that year...here a year later I'm using it a second time. I also pulled out my white embossing powder...not used since September 2017!! Can't figure that one out...I love that look!
