My card for The Lunar New Year is a little bit late. I had to make a Happy New Year card for my dear friend, Yingming, at work. She still has her Year of the Pig on display at her desk from last year. I hope she likes this one as much. Lisa's CAS challenge to use gold was perfect to mix with red for Yingming's card. Thanks to Anne for the perfect rat image for this card. And I bought these paper lantern stamps and dies on clearance at Hobby Lobby last year. I had to make up for Friday's plaid challenge that I missed in my travels and I chose to use my new Kraftin' Kimmie Perfectly Plaid stencil. I never have luck applying Versa Mark through a stencil, so I used my embossing marker instead and I like the scribbly look that I got when I added the gold EP. I only have one "Happy New Year" stamp, so I decided to handletter the sentiment using my Spectrum Noir metallic marker--which I learned today is a really nice one for handlettering.

You would be like a pied piper if you taught us how to letter so perfectly. I love everything about this card. Your darling rat is trying to take center stage, but everything else is just as wonderful.

What a perfect card with Chinese New Year coming up! I love the Rat, even if it wasn't his year, he would be cute on this card! Very nice lanterns and a great design with the stenciling!

First of all, your hand lettering is absolutely gorgeous and perfect. You are to be admired. It is a wonderful Chinese new year card with the lanterns in that rascally little rat… Wonder if he signifies adaptability and longevity??
