A card for this week's Teapot Tuesday recipient--I'm late to the Teaparty!
The ribbon is from a bouquet my Mom received a while back; I always grab the ribbons before she tosses the dead flowers, lol! I removed the wire from the edges, ran it thru the Xyron & attached to the inside edge of the card base. I cut 1" off of the front of the card base so the ribbon shows when it's closed.
The background for the front is "old school"--stamped the bitty flowers stamp over & over with Orchid Opulence ink.
Stamped the hydrangea & sentiment on a panel of Whisper White CS with Versamark, & heat embossed with the Bold Black EP. Used a blender pen directly on the watercolor pencils to pick up some color, & applied to the hydrangea & leaves. Sponged some Orchid Opulence ink around the sentiment, and the edges of the panel & card. Die-cut a lacy rectangle from the purple CS. Adhered the flower panel to the die-cut rectangle, & popped it up on the card front, overlapping the front edge. Added some bling to the corners. That's it! TFL!

Wow! Is this ever gorgeous Liz! You have used one of my all-time favorites colors, Orchid Opulence, and you have used it with style and flair! The all-over flower pattern you created on the bg is so pretty and really draws your eye right to this showstopper of a hydrangea flower. Embossing this beautiful bloom is brilliant and so is using a blender pen directly on watercolor pencils to color the bloom in with (I have never heard of doing this, but I will try it now). I absolutely love how you rescued this ribbon and showcased it by cutting away some of the card front. DonnaJeanne is going to be thrilled with this beautiful card you made for her Liz! ~Karen.

Ditto exactly what Karen wrote, except the bit where it say's Karen. Seriously Liz this is wonderful and certainly not to late...us Aussie girls are always a month late LOL. I loved reading your description, especially the part about "old school". Thanks for bringing the purple beauty to DonnaJeanne's teaparty.

Gosh, I've never had such pretty ribbon on any flowers! I like the way you used it on the inside, and have that lovely decorative frame layered over. (Oh, and I've never tried ribbon in the Xyron, but I definitely will now!). The embossing makes that hydrangea blossom look so rich and vibrant . I'm with Susie in liking the old school background.

I'm loving your pretty border to the "thinking of you hydrangea", Liz. I also like how you made your own dp for the bg panel by stamping the flower image several times...I've done that and it's rewarding. I also like how you sponged the edges of that panel too. Thanks for sharing a technique that I didn't know existed-to pick up color from a pencil with your blender pen. How cool is that! I also save ribbons, it's the best part of shopping when a bag has a pretty ribbon for the handles. I come home and cut it off so I can use it later. I call that being wise~

The embossing of the hydrangea really made it stand out. I like that ribbon on the edge and how you let it show from the front when the card is closed.
Pretty card for Donnajeanne!!!
