I have the honour of hosting this weeks TEAparty for our very own DonnaJeanne. DonnaJeanne lost her husband in December and while home and family are changing, I thought DonnaJeanne might like to escape to Splitcoaststamperville for a while.
I have created a 'home away from home" using Lavinia houses and a little pet fox by Craftin' Desert Diva. Everything was done on copy paper, coloured with Prismacolour pencils, blending pencil, Zest it pencil blend and highlighted with a few Copics. Fussy cut.
The background is Brusho's, a ton of water and el cheapo watercolour paper. I place a few sheet of cheap watercolour paper on my desk before I do any messy type work that requires liquid inks, powders and water.
I was applying Brusho's to smooth white cardstock and got carried away with the amount of ink powder and water I used, so I plonked one of the watercolour sheets on top of the inky, watery mess and like magic, the wc paper sucked the living daylights out of the puddle on the cardstock.
I loved this piece as the purple (DonnaJeannes fav colour) is really intense, yet evenly spread. I added a bit of yellow distress ink to add some interest. The cardstock piece is in my stash for another day.
Some of my favourite backgrounds are created by moping up a mess, or cleaning stencils with baby wipes, cleaning stamps by stamping until no ink is left, paint brushes etc.
I tore the house apart looking for gingham (you would think as challenge hostess I would pick something I had plenty of....you would be wrong LOL). I found a small piece of purple checked paper
in a Graphic45 8"pad. I remodelled a roof and accessories for little foxy. Whew crisis averted.
Thank you for looking and I hope you get a chance to send DonnaJeanne a paper hug. The details can be found HERE.
P.S. Happy 600th birthday Teapotters!!

Wow! Susie, those houses are my favorite and they are awesome! I love the fantastic fox. Glad the cs sucked up the "living daylights" out of the puddle as it created a splendid purple color. Your coloring is awesome, as usual, Susie! I LOVE the card, mf!

I just wanted to cry when I opened this. So tender, so full of whimsy (which I count is a necessary ingredient to life!). You are bringing the gingham, the purple, the tender critter. This is sure to delight Donna, and treasure forever.
What's not to love about your heartfelt ART, mf!!!

A truly magical card. You definitely bring these Lavinia stamps to life. As always your colouring and special backgrounds really give such life and colour to this wonderful little village. Did I mention the fox - he is the cutest as well.

Susie - another beautifully fascinating piece of art. Love all the details and the colours. That purple background makes your splitcoast houses pop. They are each totally delightful as is your fox.

Bestill my heart Susie! Donna Jeanne is going to adore this magical home-away-from-home card you made for her. Your description of how you make your cards are so much fun, and I just keep looking at your card to see how you do these magical things in your craft space. I wish everyone could see your cards in real life because there are so many more details to enjoy that the camera does not pick up as clearly as seeing it in real life. This is a "Susie Masterpiece" that Donna Jeanne will love and appreciate so very much. Hugs! ~Karen.

Thank you for hosting this challenge for Donna Jeanne. She is going to love this card. So glad you found a piece of gingham for your roof...although I seriously did not see it until I read your description because my eyes were drawn to the plaid on the house. Seriously this is just super cute.
