This card was made for my Grand-Daughter who will turn 5 in March. She LOVES dinosaurs!!!
It was initially made as a Design Team inspiration card for Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch challenge which also had the optional challenge of using letters/numbers on the card. A perfect fit for my Grand-Daughter!!!
It's a super simple card with a base of Stampin' Up! (SU) Melon Mambo, and a background pattern paper from the SU "Dinoroar" Designer Series Paper (DSP).
I made a banner pocked with the largest SU "Banners" die, then cut the top 3/4" off so it would fit on the card front with room for the pink dinosaur to peek out of the top. I used the retired SU paper piercing templates and tool to poke holes all around the edges of the pocket, then glued it to the card front -- being sure to leave plenty of room for the pull-out to move in and out.
The pull-out was made using as scrap piece of the same cardstock as the card base, and stamping the sentiment on it with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The "tab" at the top is the dinosaur's head peaking out above the pull-out. I used my Brother ScanNCut CM350 to scan the pattern paper, and automatically cut out the cute dinosaur (leaving a 0.04" white border). I cut a second shape out of white cardstock that I glued to the back of the pull-out to reinforce the dinosaur on the front.
The final step was to die-cut the number "5" from the same pink cardstock, and glue it to a circle I had diecut using the SU "Stitched Shapes" dies. I matted the circle using the pink again that was diecut using the Spellbinders "Scalloped Circles" die. The required horizontal element was diecut with the versatile two-piece banner from the SU "Bunch of Banners" die set.
The banner was cut in half (since it wasn't long enough to stretch across the entire green pocket), and the white part was glued first so that it ended behind where the circle would cover, then using a T-square, I lined up the right half and glued the banner down. With the white pieces in place, it was very simple to glue the pink frames in place so they were snug against the white, and perfectly aligned.
I'm sure my Grand-Daughter will love this card! I am rating the difficultly level as a "2" because the dies made it so easy to create the elements. If you don't have a digital cutter or DSP for the pink dinosaur, you can use the SU matching stamp set called "Dino Days" and it's matching die to create the pull-tab.
