Believe it or not! Yesterday I walked across the hall from my studio and looked outside. What did I see but a blue heron standing so still, I thought it was a statue. I called my dog and she stood looking at the big blue heron with me. The bird finally walked around the trees coming close to the bird houses. What a gorgeous bird! Now this was looking out from the second story with all the two story windows.
I have lived in this house some 28 years and have never seen a heron in the yard! Last week I saw two foxes chasing each other in the woods! First time ever! Usually I see deer and an occasional falcon sitting on a branch of the cherry tree in the winter. Yes,we bought the house right after it was built. Now all the lots have been purchased but our yard seems to draw these animals......lucky me! TFL

What an exciting visitor! I love your card with the heron and the trees in the bg. We live near a lake, so we have an assortment.....from possums to fisher cats!, deer, turkeys, and lots of birds of all sizes. Herons are at the lake, but never in our yard. You are so lucky!

Beautiful card and what a gift to have witnessed. I'm so glad I saw it. Once in my 20's, I was swimming in an Oregon creek all by my lonesome. I dove down and when I came up, there was a GB heron just yards from me. He/she stood very still for a good look and then took off, seemingly in slow motion as it was so big. 40 years later, it is one of my most glorious memories that I can still see clear as day. Thanks for sharing!
