I'm not sure if this is a Valentine or a birthday card for one of my granddaughters. A birthday is a holiday in my world.
For yesterday's WT, I found a video on You Tube about scraping chalks onto the top of water and floating your paper on top. That is what the background is. I stamped the little girl in the heart with two colors of Distress ink and then Versamark, then clear embossed. Colored the heart with pencils and popped up the sentiment (part of the stamp). Cut out a border from an old Valentine of my Grandpa Meyer's. He had so many for a wife or mother and he never gave them to my Grandma. Maybe he had more wives stashed somewhere?? I used a gold gel pen to add some details. Nothing and no one can create happiness for you. It's an 'inside job.'
Here is the video:
Pretty cute video, an art teacher who did this with 2nd graders. If they can do it, so can I.

Ah! I was just thinking about this technique yesterday, I remember trying it out some time back as a potential TLC. I loved the effect it gave, for a poor man's marbling attempt, and especially the texture. Nice to see it in the gallery. What a sweet image. I like the way it looks as if she's sitting on a heart-shaped mat and lifting it up to look underneath. Super texture on the white pieces too. Always nice to see you using the vintage cards from your collection.

Beautiful. Love the image of the girl drawing a heart. Terrific background technique! Fabulous re-purposing of the valentine. The sparkles are so pretty. Great card!
