So these giraffes are me and Raleigh and that is a bacon grease fire on my stove. I put the wrong burner on when I was trying to cook a hot dog for Raleigh for lunch on Wednesday and went to my computer to do some work. Raleigh spotted the fire first and I had to put it out with a fire extinguisher. I also melted my microwave. The Freetown Firefighters came with a big fan and sucked the smoke out of my house, so I wanted to make a card to thank them for helping us. I used Kitchen digis from Craftin Desert Divas to build my kitchen and a fire digi from PrettyGrafikDesign. Then I printed these giraffes from Just Inklined that sure look a lot like Raleigh and I looked when we saw that fire. Today's MIX challenge is to use texture paste and I used a leftover from when we mixed our own texture paste with baking soda and glue. The texture paste that I made was gray and I sponged the white paper with Evergreen Bough to match my floor. Then I sponged the tile wall using a piece of plastic that I pulled off my laptop keyboard --- it's perfect for tiles or bricks! For my other texture on my MIX card I used lots of Stickles on the flame and Nuvo Crystal Glaze on the giraffes' eyes.

Oh goodness, glad Raleigh discovered the fire and you were able to get it out. My oldest son used a fire extinguisher in the oven (when he was younger) while I was away. What a mess!!!!!! Of course, he wasn't supposed to be using the oven while I was away....so much for that. Cute card for the wonderful fire fighters.

My mother did the same thing when I was young. She wasn't able to put it out herself so her came the Fire Department. We are thankful for our fire fighters and police officers.

I just went back to read your narrative - I'm not always the best with that. I'm sorry you got a grease fire and it melted your microwave. That must have been scary, and I'm sure you're glad it wasn't worse. Your card is a perfect creation.

what a story! And to be rescued and have Raleigh experience all this in a good way. Oh, those are some alarming giraffes. The eyes are such fun. And this is so you, Jen.

Wow, what a scary incident for you and your family! But, truly, I love this super funny card. I'm betting the fire crew is getting a good laugh (now that the danger is over).
I hope it's ok that I am favoriting this! The expression on the giraffes' faces makes me laugh. Your fire is amazing. I am so glad that you are safe and sound! Glad the damage was not worse. hugs!!!

Whew! So glad your close call wasn't any closer. Years ago, when the firemen put out my mom's kitchen fire, they said a couple of more minutes and the house would have blown. Your card will be so appreciated. Hotdog for Raleigh for being a hero as well.
