The Atlantic Hearts sketch had overlapping horizontal elements, so my mind automatically went to washi tape. I have a stack of 8 patterns that I bought at Michaels two years ago that was just begging to be used. I chose the red plaid pattern for the bottom layer, and the lighter red "Merry Christmas" pattern for the top layer. The strips were all cut at 5-1/4", then hand cut flags were cut from each corner to 1/4" in the center. Using the measurement marks on my craft cutting mat REALLY helped! All I needed was a craft knife.
The central feature of the card is the snowman scene. I used the trees and birds stamp from Stampin' Up! (SU) "Happy Scenes" set in their 2015 holiday mini catalog, and the snowman from their 2014 "White Christmas" set. They were aligned using my SU Stamparatus stamp alignment tool, and stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink. The coloring was done with SU Stampin' Write Markers (water-based dye inks so they wouldn't smear the Versamark Pigment stamped images).
I then cut the stamped image with a stitched circle die
The scalloped circle mats were cut from red and green glitter paper. I wanted some depth for the red glitter mat, so used the same die to cut a red craft foam base (this would hold up much better in the mail that pieces of foam tape). The scallops were assembled using Tombow liquid glue.
After figuring out to use the cutting mat to speed up making the washi tape background, the card went really fast. I debated about using foil washi tape, but decided the more muted colors would allow the central snowman scene stand out more. It would be fun to do a foiled version, too, though! I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "2" out of a possible "5" (if you used a cutting mat with measurements on it). If you try to cut the washi tape with scissors, I would rate the difficulty as a "3" (believe me, you DON'T want to do this while hand holding a roll of washi tape and scissors!).
