To be honest, I never send Thanksgiving cards. I have nothing against it; I just don't do it. But, in the spirit of Lydia's challenge, I made a Thanksgiving card. I'm not sure yet if I'll keep this for my own stash or keep it to send to Send a Smile 4 Kids next year.
I opened the "Autumn Jar" image in Photoshop. I knew the approximate size of the focal oval, based on the sketch, so I created a blank "canvas" that size, and used the shape tool to draw an oval the same size as the canvas to use as a reference. I copied the image onto that canvas & resized/positioned it. I created the greeting myself (on yet another canvas), using the Apple Butter font (available at dafont.com). I thought the style of that typeface complemented the image well.
I moved the image & greeting onto a blank 6x4" canvas in Photoshop, and printed them onto the same size piece of watercolor paper. (I use an Epson Workforce 845 printer, which uses waterproof inks, so they don't bleed when I watercolor.) I colored the image with my Inktense pencils. I picked up the color from the pencil "lead" with a damp paintbrush, and then applied it to the paper. This is my preferred method, since it gives me the most control with color intensity, and I don't have pencil lines left over. I also colored the greeting label with the same orange pencils I used for the image, giving it an ombre effect.
I cut a piece of patterned paper to the size in the sketch. I added that to a teal panel that I'd adhered to a white card base. I cut a 1/4" wide strip of yellow cardstock, & added that towards the right edge of the card. Finally, I glued my image & greeting to the card.
