I got the idea for this card from this one I saw on Pinterest. I liked the overall layout & thought the look would be perfect for a friend of ours whose birthday is coming up soon.
I die cut 2 pieces of patterned paper & a piece of white cardstock with one of the square dies. I also die cut 3 pieces of yellow cardstock with the next largest die. Two of the yellow mats I actually cut from the middle of the larger background mat, to save on cardstock, since that would be covered up by the embossed panel.
I embossed a panel of mint cardstock with the "Heather's Lace" folder. I then matted that on yellow and adhered it to my white card base.
I drew light pencil lines diagonally from corner to corner both ways on the white square. I placed it in the corner of my MISTI, and used the lines as guides to place the "Birthday" stamp. (In retrospect, I could have used my 45-45-90 triangle to help me line up the stamp, but didn't think of it at the time.) I stamped that in Emerald Green ink, which has a slight shimmer to it. I moved my square to the other corner of my MISTI, positioned the "wishes," & stamped it with the same ink. I ended up--after I'd removed the stamps from the MISTI door, of course--having to do all that over, because I managed to smear the ink on the first square! :P Thankfully, I was able to use the first stamped square to help me line up the "Birthday," & I just did the same process. This time, I left my stamps in place until I'd dried the ink with my heat tool, just in case!
After I matted all 3 squares, I used my T-square ruler to help me line them up on my card front. I placed the top & bottom squares 1/8" from the top & bottom of the green panel, and centered side-to-side. Finally, I positioned the greeting square, popped up on foam tape. I used a trick from Jennifer McGuire, & added liquid glue to the back of the foam tape, so I had a little play time to get the square positioned correctly.
I die cut 4 flowers from the same patterned paper. I used a large-ish ball stylus & a foam mat to press down in the middle of each flower to cup it. I glued the gems in the middle of the flowers with Ranger Multi Medium Matte, and then used that also to glue them to the greeting square. I really love how this card came out!
