Today's technique challenge was to make die cuts from layers of white paper napkins then watercolor and gild them.
I tried 4 different brands of napkins and a variety of dies with less than stellar results. These blooms held together the best, though there is still quite a lot of separation of layers.
Stamped the unity sentiment on my DP and embossed with snow White powder. Then arrange my die cut napkin flowers to frame it and adhered with Alene's tacky glue.
There is a lot of sparkle & shine from the gold gilding IRL but alas the camera didn't pick it up . . .

Beautiful flowers Linda, I love the colors you've used and I love the pretty leaves, I'm sure they shine really because I've made one with gilding too and it's difficult too see in a picture

Oh, I could laugh with you but I won't, because I know the frustration of failed techniques myself - like the magazine print on the gel plate. I think this looks beautiful, the colours are fab against the dark background. I tried three different napkins before I got there, and I also think part of the secret is to let the piece dry thoroughly before moving it - my first semi-successful attempt, I didn't let it dry and the top layer lifted - and stretched so much that I couldn't even carefully stick it back down.
In my experimenting, I did try using spray-mount to attach the bottom layer of napkin to my thin card, and that did help, though once I found the right napkins, I also found I didn't need to go that extra step. I can imagine how pretty the Twinkling H2Os look.
And your papercasting might have been epic frustration, but I know it certainly wasn't a fail.

Beautifully done! Your die cuts are so intricate- what a challenge to do a die like this! I love your floral spray framing the sentiment. And, bet the sparkle IRL is amazing!!!
