I hope this qualifies for the rough and smooth challenge. I used a piece of watercolor tissue paper with embossing for my BG. I colored the tissue paper with worn lipstick, cracked pistachio and wilted violet distress inks by applying the inks to acetate, misting with water and then laid the tissue paper on that. Carefully lifted it off, let it dry, then put Elmer's glue on a piece of white cardstock and stuck the wrinkled tissue to it. After it was dry I used versamark to rub on the wrinkles and embossed with gold powder. The die cut sentiment was attached and the panel placed on a pink pirouette card base. The embossed gold is the smooth and the wrinkled tissue is the rough.

Gorgeous rough and smooth crinkled tissue paper background for your wonderful die cut Christmas sentiment, Sue. I am so pleased you have time to stamp again and have all your supplies in One Place:-) Happy stamping, dear friend. Hugs..Nancy

The watercolour tissue is absolutely rough, it was one of the things I was thinking would be perfect for this - and heat embossing is definitely smooth. Your tissue piece is really beautiful, and the gold gives it a great festive look.

Of course this qualifies (I'd love it, even if it didn't!) as smooth and rough. I adore your bg - that technique is fun and beautiful as well, and the top layer is so pretty against the tissue. Favd, mf!

Totally had to add this to my favorites folder - so pretty, and so cool! I love everything about it - the colors, the technique, the layout - the whole shebang! Thank you for some outstanding inspiration.
