I love feathers of all sorts. Pictured with this card are two of my feathers: red-tailed hawk and in the little round clear box, an Anna's hummingbird feather. My brother gave both to me, he is even more avid about feathers. They're hard to find; when you look for them, you won't find them. I believe he was given the hummer feather. How could you ever find one of those?? And, I guess it is illegal to pick up feathers of any kind. Or maybe it's just endangered birds or eagles.
The embossed background was my 'brayer off' from using the Sparks paint on the gel plate. I used a scrap from another gel print for the straight pieces of the sketch, this one using baking soda, coffee and DOx sprays. The feathers were cut from an AI piece, the gold paper and another random background piece. Instead of the oval for the sketch, I used some wire.
According to studies, we have many less birds than we used to have in the States. How sad that is...

I love this card! Wonderful feathers and colors. I just got back from the grocery store where I bought our Blue Jays some peanuts in the shell. Birds are a passion for us!!!

Oh my, look at that tiny little feather! It's so sweet. Your inky ones are even more eye catching - though it's a close tie between them and the wonderful texture in your gel print strips. I was looking at that ef the other day, trying to figure out how to make more room in my box, but knowing that if I did get rid of it, I'd regret it because I'd see some card using it wonderfully - like this one!

This is stunning, and we share a love of feathers and birds. I have two pairs of hummers that are always in my yard and let me get very close to them. Now i have to start looking on the ground for a feather. I love all the texture that you have used on this beautiful card.

The embossed background is perfect to go with your feathers! My oldest daughter also collects feathers! She use to make beautiful dream catchers with them!
Your card is awesome!

Wow this looks fabulous Jean. I love the rustic texture you achieved with the cleaning your brayer and the embossed bird - brilliant! Everything about this makes me smile Jean. We love birds too.
