This is another card I created for the WWII vet who will turn 100 years young this month. I thought this truck image would make a great masculine card. I got the idea from this card I saw on Pinterest.
I used Operation Write Home's Sketch #223 for my design. I sized the truck image in Photoshop, & then printed it onto a piece of watercolor paper that I'd cut to size. I wanted a bit of a scene to go with the truck, so I used a pencil & ruler to draw in a road, and then went over those lines with a black Micron pen. I used my watercolors to paint the image. The recipient is originally from East Texas (where I also live), which is largely a rural area. So I made the road a dirt road, kind of reddish to reflect the red clay that is so predominate here. I figured a red truck would be pretty celebratory-looking, hence my color choice.
I chose one of the greetings from "Birthday Builder," that I feel has kind of an antique look to it. I stamped that on a strip of cream cardstock with Cobalt ink. I matted that with navy cardstock, and added a strip of light green cardstock to the left end. The empty space after the "happy" bothered me, so I added 3 enamel dots.
I matted the image panel with the same navy cardstock, & added 3 smaller enamel dots to echo the ones by the greeting. I adhered a panel of plaid patterned paper from my scrap stash to a white card base, and adhered my image & greeting pieces to that.
