Mary is our hostess in the color challenge this week, and she is welcoming autumn with some beautiful fall colors: Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie and Poppy Parade. Not surprisingly, the dessert option is "fall." :-)
I used one of my favorite techniques for this card, Stencil Monoprints. I used my leaf stencil, smooshed the three colors of Distress Oxides onto the stencil, sprayed with water, and then placed the stencil, inky side down, onto a piece of watercolor paper. I carefully removed the stencil and left the panel to air dry.
Using a scrap piece of Bristol paper and my blending brushes, I covered the panel with the three ink colors, blending them together randomly. I splattered that panel with some water droplets, then blotted with a paper towel. Then I die cut my leaves and greeting from that panel. I was unhappy with how light and muted all the colors looked, so I went back over the elements with more ink.
I die-cut a panel of Crushed Curry as a background for the greeting and falling leaves, sponged the edge of the first panel with more Candied Apple ink, and mounted on a Pumpkin Pie card base. A few gems give just the right amount of sparkle!
Thanks for stopping by, and please play along with us this week!

Lovely autumn card with today's colors, Barbara. Like how you so expertly used the repeating motif of the stylized leaf....not only in die cuts, but with the bg stenciling. Very effective!
