I made this card for this week's Featured Stamper who is Rachel (rlsnyder). Sadly, I really was not aware of Rachel's work so I am happy it was brought to my attention because I had a blast going through her gallery. I went through it 3 times before finally selecting this gorgeous hydrangea card: Garden Gate Birthday Wishes by rlsnyder at Splitcoaststampers.
Seeing Rachel's card reminded me I have this new StampinUp stamp set I have never used before so today was the day. I am not always the best at using parts and pieces stamp sets, but I sure do admire what I see others doing with them. I stamped the hydrangea's in blue ink, then took a sponge dauber and added some purple ink in here and there for added color, then stamped the image. I did the same technique for the large and small roses too.
When I was done stamping, the card front was a little "flat" and needed something. I die cut a frame using a stitched rectangle die, but did not like how that looked at all, so just kept the pieces flat and the die cutting is only for added interest now. Added a word die and that completed the card.
Thank you for the wonderful inspiration Rachel, and enjoy your well deserved week in the spotlight too. I so enjoyed making this card today and it would not have happened without your lovely inspiration card. ~Karen.

Oooo... I am so excited you have this set!! Yippee! Love how you kept all of the pieces to your panel - it looks awesome! I especially like your hydrangeas.

This is beautiful. I really like the idea of keeping the die cut together instead of layering. I never think of using 2 stamp sets either, you did it so well. I saved this.
