I made this card for today's TLC challenge. Judy is our hostess and she has a great challenge for us today called, "coloring mediums." She is challenging us to use coloring mediums we are uncomfortable with- YIKES! Water coloring ranks right up there at the top for me of terrifying coloring mediums so of course, I had to try this today. It is raining outside so I have no excuses, right (bites nails here).
I heat embossed the 2 flowers and stems with leaves onto watercolor paper. Then I wet the image lightly with a wet paint brush before adding the watercolor paint. I am both fascinated and horrified by the lack of control with water coloring compared to my favorites- copic markers. I did several layers to get the intensity that I wanted, allowing for drying time in between. And in between drying times, I made another card with color pencils which is my other terrifying coloring medium.
Once I had the color looking as good as it was going to look for this novice, I decided to add doodles around the image. We just did doodling in a recent Teapot Tuesday challenge so that is still fresh in my mind. I am not a doodler at all so this is very, very beginner level doodling. Thank you Judy for this terrific (although terrifying) challenge that got me waaaay out of my comfort zone, and thanks for looking today. ~Karen.

This is so bright and cheery! Great job going out of your comfort zone. I think embossing helps so much with watercoloring. Love the gold touch as well as your doodling. Sure to be an uplifting note!

Embossing is my best friend for watercolour because it helps contain the paint - I know that's not what true watercolour is all about, but if it works...And gold embossing always adds such a touch of luxury. Your doodled border looks great.

Ooh, yummy, yummy, yummy!. The gold embossing is gorgeous and there is just something about pink and yellow and green! The Bloom diecut looks awesome on this. I would say you are a very good doodler, my friend!
