Congrats to Rebecca, the newest Featured Stamper! She has a lovely gallery & I chose THIS card to case. I kept the fall leaf theme w/ the big central leaf, but I used different images, different colors & a different technique.
For my fall card, I started by die cutting a large leaf shape & using the negative as a mask to sponge Distress inks in the fall colors. Then I stamped the Single Fall Tree in Distress oxide ink in ground espresso. I used a water brush & more of the distress inks to add a little splatter.
For the larger bg, I used the woodgrain bg, but not in the conventional sense. I used a technique I learned probably 15 yrs ago but I donât see it used these days. I wanted the bg to look a little more solid, so I used a hair dryer to slightly heat a piece of fun foam then pressed it to the woodgrain bg. (I have a little more about this & a pic of it on my blog).
Thanks so much for looking. It's on my blog: The Write Stuff

Wow! This is just gorgeous Julie and such a great take on Rachel's lovely inspiration card. Thank you for sharing how you did the woodgrain bg because it is gorgeous! ~Karen.
