Last night I was at my sister's, she has a patch of black eyed susans and I stole some. I immediately created two panels with the technique, wondering 'would there be an opportunity to use this for tomorrow's IC??'
I love techniques that have a surprise. I find that more liberating than having control over a technique. You get what you get! The centers of the 'susans' really exploded, which is all the brown crud in the middle. I really like the texture of it. I added some yellow ink splatters and various specialty papers at the bottom to represent the baskets. I distressed the edges and swiped on the cattail ink. I'm not really a 'farmhouse' girl, having all of that look would be too much for me, but I was happy I could participate.
We have a new Vietnamese restaurant in town; if you knew Menomonee Falls, you'd think 'what?? an ethnic restaurant in THIS village??' It's decorated in some rough woods and neutral colors, which is nice, but the wall decor is farmhouse, galvanized metal stuff. That puzzles me. Maybe they're embracing their Americanism?

I love black eyed susans! My Dad used to stop so I could pick them when I was a kid. Crushing them makes a really interesting image, don't you think? I like how textural this is.

Fabulous, Jean! I love your exploding "Susan" on your card. I need to find some pretty stuff here & do more of that. I'm jealous you have a new asian restaurant..we don't have a single one anywhere around. I find THAT really strange.

That is such a wonderful technique, Jean. And, I like that you added the basket weave. How wonderful your sister's flowers fit into the IC today.

this is a great inspired card- and technique you used to create it-love the explosion of black eyed Susans- we have them growing all over our yard- although they are on the downturn now
