Lisa is our hostess for the WTUI challenge this week. She has a really interesting challenge, which you can find HERE.
It was a great chance for me to finally create this card for my brother's birthday. I'd wanted to make it last year to accompany his present, which was Richard Scarry's biography. My brother's all-time favourite childhood book was "Cars & Trucks & Things That Go". I ran out of time last year - amazingly, not just the stamped background but the extra cut out and coloured green car were still easy to find on my desk. I added another car in red for a bit of extra interest.
I wanted to make a Chibitronics card, and thought a fun way with be to have the traffic signal light up. It goes red, and the message on the pull-tab says "Stop!". The inside sentiment is "You can't be another year older already."
My brother was surprised at the light...which surprised me because both my nephews got Chibitronics cards last year. I filled the amber and green lights in with coloured card, punched a hole behind the red one and added vellum coloured with a red Sharpie.
I think it should have been possible to figure out a push-pull double slider with both cars moving, but August was manic and I certainly didn't have time to figure that out in combination with a light-up circuit.

Wow! What a great card to give your brother! That Richard Scarry book was my son’s favorite book as well! Now the kids want iPhones. I will have to look for that biography as my son would probably enjoy it as well.
Your Card is perfect to go with the book, Sabrina!

Clever! Manic or not, who has time for extra-extra involved making? This is amazing enough already! I have that stamp and it has yet to see ink - maybe today is the day...? Love your card!

Spectacular, Sabrina! What an awesome card! Funny, I was going to call my card "Cars and Trucks and Things That Go" because that is a perennial favorite in my family (I think it's MY brother's all-time favorite book too). My kids love looking at the pictures and finding Goldbug. Anyway, your interactive card is just FAB and perfect for this challenge!!
