I made this card for 2 challenges. The first Challenge is today's Try A New Technique. Sabrina is our hostess and she has a terrific challenge for us called, "Recessed Panel Card." I cannot remember when I first saw a card like this, but I have been wanting to make one ever since then and today was the day! The 2nd challenge is the Alphabet Challenge for the letter Y which are the yellow flowers in this card.
I did this card backwards so it became more of an ordeal than it needed to be, but lesson learned. I cut the wedge out of the card and set it aside. I pulled out this Altenew stamp set I have had for probably a year and not used yet. It has so many little pieces to it and 5 layers of stamping on the flowers, but I was up for the task today. I did the stamping on the 2 outer panels, then did not know what to do with the wedge panel I had removed. There really was only one thing to do, and that is to continue the stamping on the wedge. So I had to line all the pieces up in the MISTI and stamp the flowers and leaves onto the wedge panel. This took quite a bit of time to do, but it turned out so that is the main thing- whew!
Then I decided to add some blue shading around the flowers to make it look like a sky. Using a makeup brush, I sponged TH Tumbled Glass distress ink lightly around the entire card front which gives it more of a vintage feel. Added the sentiment and assembled the card using fun foam on the 2 outer panels. Now that I know what I am doing, I know I will make more cards like this. Thank you so much Sabrina for this fabulous challenge and thanks for looking! Karen.

Dear Karen....you definitely worked too hard creating this beauty. Next time you will be an expert. I adore your flowers, even though it took you longer to create with their 5 steps to them. Lovely card, my friend~

LOL - only because our stories are somewhat similar . . .except I lost part of an arm bone - I suspect the wedge was MUCH easier to find in the long run. I probably won't find the bone till Christmas!!! nicely done with the stamped bg and scalloped edge.
