My Dad decided we needed a sailboat at our cottage. So he bought a small, one person boat called a Sunfish. We were dumped in the drink most of the time. Not good sailors.
The main image is a rescued print from Goodwill. Artist is named Ray Royston. I know nothing about him. I only used half on this card, so I could do another. I don't have much in the way of boats or water and wasn't inspired to use what I have. I painted the background Bristol paper to compliment the print. Added a 4 cent postage stamp, painting by Winslow Homer. Remember that song 'Sailing' by Christopher Cross? Gosh I loved that song. Released in 1980.

Love your repurposing of both the print and the stamp! You did a fantastic job on matching the colours of the print. I've been dumped a few times from a Sunfish too! The boat is still residing underneath the cottage and hasn't seen water in 30 years. Ha, ha! Great card and thanks for the memories!

Oh, I do remember that song, yes indeed. And I was reared much more on classical music and a bit of jazz, not a lot of pop in our house - I picked up much more after getting married. Love that postage stamp - and the postage framing. The print was a great find.

You have me singing it now and recall many sailing memories. Hubby sailed a 1948 Mercury Sloop wooden boat for many years, and was proud to say it got dry rot before he did!. Your collagy recycled card is beautifully done, Jean. Love that rustic looking stamp-edge border is perfect for your 4 cent wonder.
