I had just been reading about paste paper techniques, so when I saw Janelle's posting for MIX332, I knew I wanted to give it a try. I was in the kitchen all Saturday morning, so I made a little space on the table and cooked up my paste and added colours (see photo in challenge thread).
Most of my pieces were stencils over reject backgrounds, so they didn't fit Janelle's element of rescuing some failed stamping. But this piece was some not very successful foiling with gilding flakes for a TLC some time back. I didn't want to throw it out, so it was still in my box. Adding the tinted paste over it gave it enough of a distressed look that the imperfect foiling didn't matter any more. (It was probably done with that embossing powder that you heat, heat n stick??). I added a little kanji and stamped over the whole thing with a crackle stamp to add to the distressed look. Found some paper with a similar yellow, so I used that and kraft for layering it and to add the little butterfly.

Such a happy card full of happy colors...this yellow and green are marvelous together! I really like the dimensional crackle texture you achieved using the paste technique. Your salvaged piece became a feature of interest to host your foliage branch with its beautiful multi-colored leaves. Love that bitty butterfly coordinating with the plaid BG.
