My family is from the Alsace-Lorraine area; from what I understand, sometimes considered German, sometimes French. I believe the area we are from is now French, since we have some relatives in that area who speak French. Milwaukee has a big Bastille Days Festival, which just finished yesterday. There is a run at midnight called Storm the Bastille, hence the title.
In looking for some other supplies, I found this chip board fleur de lis. I didn't have much time to create today as I'm dog sitting for a few days, so I combined today's challenges. The oval is the TLC (used the paper towel to press in some texture); the fleur-de-lis is self-explanatory. I used the pastes and the IG on both. I used my trusty old dictionary for the definition. In choosing the colors, I envisioned some of the photos I've seen of beautiful, high ceiling-ed salons in white and gold with some blue.

Beautiful! It is an incredible work of mixed media art!
When I first saw this my mind went back to the scene in Casablanca where the lady in the club stands up to sing La Marseillaise with tears in her eyes, such a moving scene. Your work is just as inspirational.

Such nice texture from the TLC technique - and I like that you used the Definition from your trusty old dictionary. I had fun reading it - I am one of the people who never really understood the meaning behind it. ( and it really does resemble an Iris now that I understand)

I always love to see the fleur-de-lis like that. I remember my mother had a chair with a blue velvet cushion, embroidered with them. I used to think (in fact, I still do) that the fabric must have been the last bit of something that had come from France. Great CAS design with the texture, scoring and open space. I love the soft, rich colours and gentle distressed look.
