I already had the background; since it had a fair amount of yellow in it, I thought I'd try one of my new folders from Spellbinders. It embosses and cuts (supposedly); FAILURE! I had to mess around with different 'sandwiches' and shims, couldn't get it right. The centers of the smaller flowers had a little circle to cut, which were fine, but the bigger flowers had many little openings, those did not cut worth a darn. Hence the glitter centers on the bigger flowers. What is supposed to happen is that you layer a color behind the center of flowers. If anyone has any ideas, let me know.
The technique was put a layer of the gel on the plate, spray a couple of sprays, then drop the alcohol pearls on top. I had a lot of fun with that technique. PS I didn't follow the rules, there is no sketch...I knew what I wanted to do and I did it.

Jean I'm not sure but i've got some embossing folders with die cut too, there was no explanation on the folder, but I took the dies out of the folder, embossed first placed the dies and die cut after...and that works perfectly, anyway your card looks great!! and has a real artsy look!!

Gold circles as a rescue, they look fabulous. Gorgeous background and a great quote. Have you tried cutting regular DP as opposed to a gel print with the folder (I've seen those ones and have been wondering about them, though I think it's a different brand I've seen in the few craft stores here). Because I notice that sometimes if I have a lot of paint on something, it doesn't cut as well. So I'd try cutting a sheet of thin white card - if that works, at least you can always use sprays and suchlike to colour it, since I imagine sponging would be out of the question.

I feel for ya...some days I can't do anything right and I think it's the tool's fault and not mine of course ;)......I like your result....it's artsy and the message is strong. We're two of a kind...I don't always follow the rules either, especially when creating.

yes, it is very frustrating when things don't work the way they are supposed to, BUT your card is incredible anyway! Love the background and the embossing and the sentiment!

Although you may have had a different result in mind, the one you accomplished is awesome! I love the glitter centers and rhinestones! That is an awesome pattern. Hope you have some hints from others on how to make it work as it should.
