This card was made as a Design Team inspiration card for Try Stampin' on Tuesday Sketch Challenge #417 with an optional theme of "vacation fun".
There are so many things to do outdoors in the warm summer months that I couldn't focus on just one vacation theme, but chose THREE - going to the beach, trips to other places in the world, and camping.
I thought the card would get to cluttered if I used realistic colors for all the stamped images, so chose to go with a black & white monochrome approach that would showcase images that symbolized each activity. I used my Stampin' Up! Stamparatus to stamp each set of images multiple times to ensure a nice solid black.
I sacrificed the card background visibility in favor of the larger vertical panels. However, if you look closely you will see the horizontal map panel (in shades of tan) behind the three panels. Since I love maps and traveling, I always look forward to cards where I can use the map motifs of the SU "Going Places" paper stack.
There really wasn't any room left for a sentiment, so I decided to use SU's nice heavy vellum to allow the word "Summertime" to cross all three panels without really blocking any of them. The sentiment is from Serendipity Stamps. I purchased the 2003 stamp set that has a phrase for all four seasons of the year. The vellum piece was thinly coated on the entire back with Tombow glue, then pressed to the card front. This gives the see-through vellum a uniform translucency without glue dots or tape showing through.
This card would be a good one for a beginner stamper to try because it's very simple and straightforward stamping. I am rating it's difficulty level as a "2" out of a possible "5".
This would be a good card to send to someone with whom you had shared a summer vacation. Maybe tuck a few photos inside and a note to say how much fun you had with them.
