What better way to start off a long weekend than with inky fingers and inspiration overflowing? Thanks to Sabrina (Cook22) for the Ways to Use it Marbled Books and to Brenda (Benzi) Inspiration Challenge: Ballard Designs. After pursuing the Ballard website, I knew I just HAD to do a room. And if money were no object, I'd have this CHAIR. Alas, my home is filled with uber cool chairs gathered together through the years from yard sales, thrift stores, estate sales, mid-century modern shops, antique stores...but not one of them brand new. And I love it that way!
I used the Flonz stamp set called Vintage Sixties Lounge. These are only two of choices in the set. The rug (RubberMoon) was made longer by piecing in the icenter. I used a '60's style embossing folder to give it some texture.
I built my library out of the Basic Grey 'Oxford' book paper. Along the top is my collection of miniature books from Running Press. I have over 85 now that were either given to me or found at yard sales or thrifts. I figure if I ever downsize to a tiny house, I'll have my library already established. I loved Sabrina's challenge Library, Books, or Marbled Paper.
And the star of my room is my Real Lucille Ball postage stamp, a gift from Jean Jkanack. What a beautiful photograph. She's framed with a carrot top colored frame. The Purple Onion Postmark Stamp set let me add the date to it.
Please come join me in my library. Try out the chairs...I'm certain you'll find one to suit. I'll put the kettle on or pop some tops...thanks for stopping by.
Editing to add, I forgot to mention the I Love Lucy stamp hidden on the wall...it is an unmarked mounted stamp.

I like your cosy armchair, I can just imagine curling up in it with a good book...and plenty of light to read by which is important these days! Wall to wall books look good to me. I always remember the first time we needed to hire a removal company and the guy who came to give a quote looked at all our books and asked what we did with them. What a silly question!

How cool is this..right down to the Lucy stamp from Jean. I have a son that would love that chair on the left and the lamp. He loves retro. Your library is great and reminds me of my hubby's sister's library............so many books and all read, I'm sure...such a huge wall of them.

Of course I love this...where to start?? I would be so at home in your retro reading room here...I'm sure I'd find several tomes in your miniature library to my liking ;) The tassels on the rug are adorable (actually the pattern looks like a rug I got from Ballard!) The Lucy stamp and askew framing are the perfect accent on this uber creative card!

Is it the shape or the pattern? ( they sell their fabrics if you wanted to recover one of yours) hunh, Oh I almost said that same thing about our chairs but, its not true anymore we bought a kitchen table that came with chairs and some bar stools after the big remodel. I just love that you built a whole room Susan

I just knew you would choose a chair, mf!! I too love mismatched chairs, and as there are 16 of us when we get together, I have chairs from the places you've gone!! Love your fun card, especially the way you used the stamp, and that rug! Hugs, mf!

Very cool room, Susan! And I love the library & Lucy postage stamp. Your living room reminds of the old Dick Van Dyke show. Loved it almost as much as the Lucy show. I still like to watch the reruns.

Best use of book paper ever! You matched the pattern on the rug extension perfectly, and it adds so much depth to you amazing scene. The expression on Lucy's face looks like she knows every secret within those books, beckoning us to choose one from your library and add to our wisdom. Do you have "The Rubber Stamp Album" by Joni K Miller & Lowry Thompson? It's the first book written about art stamps, which led to the creation of Rubberstampmadness Magazine. I've an extra copy that has your name on it if you want it. I'll even deliver it in person! Put me in any chair.
