Where in the world would we be without the Ball jar? That invention certainly changed the face of food preparation and storage in the United States and, I'm assuming, in the world.
As I was cruising through the site (yes, a rabbit hole, maybe more like digging your way to China), I kept seeing Ball jars. I'm not a 'country' person, although country decor has certainly evolved but I love Ball jars. I have a few old ones with the zinc tops. I don't know exactly when they became a decorating/DIY item and I hope they're here to stay.
I made the background with a textured thin layer of Gesso, then sponged the chalk inks. I was also inspired to use the chalk inks when I saw the articles about chalk paints for walls. I masked the jars so I could vary the heights. Added a few background stamps and the twine, just because you have to have twine around a Ball jar.

I have those in my craft room filled with buttons old wide mouth jars with zinc lids (yep, I hardly do any decorating because, I'd rather stamp and color than dust nick knacks but, I know what you mean with all the jars as vases and such. ( they catch my attention because, I have niece that is deep into them)

I totally love your jars, Jean. What a fab way to do them - love that fun sentiment and your colors. Even the twine is a great idea. Love, love, love. Hugz

Oh, I love your jars, each so pretty. The twine was a good finishing touch. Good work with those chalk inks.

This is beautifully done - I love all the interest you've added to the jars and the varied heights. I just cleaned out about 7 boxes worth of Ball jars from my parents' condo and passed them on to a friend who still does home canning. I used to do lots as well but have given it up!
