This card was made for a sketch challenge that asked that we use grunge or vintage themes. I chose to do both!
I started by stamping the vintage image from Stampin' Up! (SU) 2004 "Thinking of Father" set using SU Early Espresso ink. I then used water color pencils to color the image, then an water brush to "paint" the colors. The watch face and glasses were made shiny by adding Ranger Glossy Accents. The stamped image was cut out, then the edges sponged lightly with the same brown ink.
The card front was made by stamping two stamps from the SU "Gorgeous Grunge" streaks and splotches using the same dark brown ink. I used my SU stamp positioner to make the horizontal streaks line up. Since I wanted the splotches to not overwhelm the card, I stamped off once after inking it, then stamped on the light brown panel.
The vintage stamped image was attached to the card front with adhesive foam strips. The two short pieces of blue and green ribbon were glued under the edge of the image. The card front was then glued to the SU Cherry Cobbler card base.
I am rating the difficulty level of the card as a "2" out of a possible "5". Water coloring a vintage image is very forgiving, as is the cutting it out. Stamping random splotches is super easy, too.
This card would make a good guy card for just about any occasion.
