This is for Jeanne Free 4 All Challenge to create lines on your card. I was at my dentist office yesterday; my dental hygienist had a poster of a saguaro cactus hanging on the wall. As my teeth were being clean, I studied the picture. It inspired me to finally use my Flowering Desert stamp set! In the picture, I saw bands of color for a sunrise and I thought I could recreate it to some extent. Using my watercolor set, I applied lines of color with a wide brush. It was quick and easy. I stamped a saguaro and gave it a couple of 3-D blooms.
Did you know? The Saguaro cactus bloom is the state flower for Arizona. The blooms appear mostly in the springtime but can be seen all year long. They open at dusk or nighttime and last only one day. No worries, when one bloom fades away, there is another one right behind it. The flowers are pollinated by bats at night and bees & birds during the day. Now you know.
Thanks for looking! Hope your day blooms with joy.

This is really striking and quite lovely Diane. I had to chuckle about you finding your inspiration while sitting in the dental chair. Ha! I also love the history on this wonderful cactus and it's blooms. So fun! ~Karen.

I love how creative you get with your backgrounds! Watercolored lines are such a clever way to represent the sunrise! Thanks for the info on the cactus blooms - it would be so interesting to see them IRL!
