Thanks to Karen and our guest designer, Lela this week for a lovely as a rose color challenge. And a snack thrown in!
As most of my cards do, this one has a story. Just last week this time, it was espresso and ginger tea with tessaduck. It was a lovely morning on the deck of our favorite meeting spot. We cooked up a personal challenge to be fulfilled with the next SCS Color Challenge.
We would do one half of the card, slip it in the mail that day and then finish each others card when it arrived. I am excited to upload my card which is so balanced and rich with Brenda's style and all the details needed for slipping it in the mail.
Brenda used the colors this week to create the inlaid die rose (Frantic Stamper). She included all the makings (base and liner). The rose petals were sponged as well.
I had to ponder how I was going to add my style for a day to do this beautiful CAS rose. Knowing Brenda is a mathematical genius (you should see her fantastic quilts) and loves Tessellations
I wanted to honor that passion. The Tim Holtz fragment die is gorgeous in it's symmetry don't you think? I added a bit of sentiment by masking a too large image to just show a bit of scroll/BEAUTY. Of course I got it wonky, free styling! Had to hide that fact with the pretty, wrinkly seam binding.
And then stepping back, I saw the perfect blend of talent. Thanks Brenda for the brain workout. I love your style.

Quite different for you but I love it. Is this not a different concept for you, but what a very cool idea. I'm sure you both were challenged. Thnaks so much for sharing this beauty and an excellent idea.

I think you successfully achieved that challenge! Those TH dies are great looking. Love your vintagy looking seam binding. I did not even notice you "wonked" the sentiment lol.

So cool how your ribbon resembles a rose, Susan. I love the splatters on the inside part of the rose; really cool as well. Love that you and Brenda swapped partial cards to finish.

Fabulous! I liked it the minute I saw it. Now that I've read the description, I like it even more. What a fun idea to share the creation of a card! The rose and the die-cut lattice go so nice together. Beautifully done for the two of you. Excellent use of the colors. You even have dessert. TFS

Oh, wow! You have a quilt corner! Love it, and such great fun. I had to (had to!) have Roy read your description. He needs to know that I’m a mathematical genius! I’m still giggling...

You showcased Brenda's lovely rose perfectly and I love the tribute to her mathematical skills through the lattice. Love your beautiful card, Susan and that you and Brenda shared the elements. Sign me up for a half swap!
