I approached today's sketch a little differently. Rather than adding paper, I cut out the 5 rectangular shapes. Used a die cut for the lacy insert and backed it all with black CS. Since I essentially created a bg, I needed a focal point so I stamped and watercolored the peony and put it on top.

I knew this was your card the minute I laid eyes on it in the gallery. This is headed straight for my favorites, and I love everything about it.

You are always in a creative mode, Sallie. So many times you think outside the box, and that causes me to say Ah, another way to use the sketch, colors, or whatever the challenge happens to be. Beautiful birthday card~

Creative idea! I like your approach to the sketch with the cut-outs and the turn. Beautiful peony! Fabulous card. Thanks for participating in the Sketch Challenge. TFS
