Lydia's MIXed media challenge today is about creating a textured background in neutral colours, using at least two mediums.
After gessoing the panel I started with a hexagon stencil and scribbled in each one with a graphite lead. Then I laid another stencil over and added texture paste. I sprinkled this with brown Bister and then sprayed it with water till it was very dilute and running all over.
When dry I added stitching round the edge.
The square of acetate was embossed, then had white paint rubbed over and sanded off. It's edged with a gold pen.
The turtle is stamped on grey Bazzill and on a piece of a gel print for his body, which I coated with two layers of UTEE.
I added some fibre seaweed, Prills for sand and a few sequins
