This card was created as an "any occasion" masculine card. The sentiment makes it good for birthdays, anniversaries, or even Valentines Day!
The main panel was created by stamping the retired Stampin' Up! (SU) background stamp "World Map" using light brown ink on ivory cardstock. The panel was trimmed down to 3-7/8"x 5-1/8" to allow room for the green mat to show around the perimeter of the panel.
The map was sponged using green and blue ink. Then the retired SU "Thinking of Father" stamp of compass and watch were stamped onto the map using dark brown ink. I colored the image with markers, but it really was lost among the map details. So I stamped a second one on a scrap piece of cardstock, colored it with markers, then fussy cut the compass and watch out with paper snips. This was then mounted over the top of the originally stamped image using adhesive foam strips to raise it off the card surface. Since the whole point was to emphasize being lost without the right person, I wanted the navigation instruments to really stand out.
The banner was stamped using the sentiment from SU's "Going Global" stamp set with dark brown ink. I then die cut it out with a banner die that cuts both an inside and outside piece. To get the outside green, I die cut the same die again using the same green cardstock as the green mat around the main panel. The sentiment and it's green frame were glued to the card front using Tombow.
Finally, I liberally covered the dome of the watch and the metal parts of the compass with Ranger's Glossy Accents to make them look shiny. This had to dry flat for an hour or so before the card should be moved to ensure a dome-like result on the watch face.
I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "2" out of a possible "5" due to the need to fussy cut the compass and watch. The sponging of color is very forgiving for a background like this map, so that wasn't difficult at all.
Now I'm ready come whatever masculine occasion may arrive where I need a card!
