Some people rescue other people; some people rescue dogs and cats; I rescue art work from Goodwill. It is the first section I peruse when I visit. Fortunately I remembered I had rescued this 99 cent photo of pansies. Not artistic by any means, poorly framed but I think someone took the picture and framed it for themselves or as a gift for their Mom. Pansies are my go-to plant if I can't wait until Memorial Day to put out pots; they are so hardy.
I cut apart the flowers, doodled on them with some gold pen and embossed some leaves and edges of the card with gold. I added some Stickles in the center and put some through a stencil in a couple of corners. This is for today's MIX and F4A and yesterday's WT. All about the flowers! My favorite color is green, most all the hues, so the background was done with the three green DOx.
The card to the left was one of my grandparent's stash. Grandma must have had a box of these flower popups because I have many, mostly one of a kind. There is no sentiment so can be used for many purposes, which I like. The artistry in cards isn't the same, although we're all trying to change that. PS The title is by Shakespeare, Hamlet, Act 4, scene 5, line 176. Have no idea what it means, didn't look that up.

What a great repurpose of the pansies you rescued! Wonderful addition of the gold bits - your grandmothers fold out card is beautiful as well - I have seen those but do not own one.

Oh, I love the gold skeleton leaves, they are beautiful - so are your rescued pansies. And the green background, very soft and suited to your pansies. I think the quote is one of Ophelia's speeches. As far as I know the English "pansy" was derived from the French "pensee" which does indeed mean thought and they were used with that significance in Victorian flower alphabets. Obviously earlier too, if Shakespeare had the same connotation!
The pop-up card is amazing - the detail down to the little basket is fab.
Wow! Does it say how old your grandmother's card is? Love the style! I think you are fabulous for rescuing art and making it new! You did a lovely job on the flowers!
