I made this card for Tuesday Teapot Challenge: "Wide Open Range" for Sandy who broke both her feet. Her husband has taken leave to help her. Since, they are both artists and love the Southwest and horses, I created this card for them.
I have had a Tim Holtz Alcohol ink kit for a long time and have never made anything with it. I decided to try to make a background of bright colors that reminded me of the Arizona skies. I made 9 panels, some worked and some didn't. I like this one best. It reminded me of a rearing horse stirring up dust in the sunset. (That's the way my mind works.) So I stamped the horse with VersaMark and embossed it with black ep. I stamped the "Wishing You Well" in upper corner, adding a tiny gold heart above it. I added a strip on right with 3 gold stars. Layered it all on black and then onto red card.

Wow what a magic background Gracie. It really creates a sense of movement for your terrific horse. I love the design too. I hope you kept the backgrounds that you didn't like, they make a great base for collage cards or used for die cutting trees....I have a huge stash LOL

I agree with what Susie said...the bg really has a sense of movement to it and it goes perfectly with the horse image. Those alcohol inks do take some practice in my opinion. You did a wonderful job with this card!

Well, I guess if any of us knows Arizona sunsets you certainly do. I love the picture you've created in my mind of the horse stirring up dust. Alcohol inks are great fun, the only problem is if you like (I do) predictable results. But I'm sure now you've tried them you'll find yourself hooked.

My husband and I have visited Arizona a couple of times and as soon as I saw that background I thought the colours were just right! Something about the light and the sky. Your rearing horse looks at home too. Great card to raise someone's spirit!
