This birthday card is for a guy who runs an organization I belong to -- he raises finches and other birds, so I'm always looking for ways to include birds in his cards. The theme color for the group is blue, so that had to go on the card. (There's silver there too, but you can't really see it in the photo.)
For IC689, jkanack submitted a cool Andy Warhol-like card with bird diecuts from four different alcohol ink scraps:
When the card was done I realized the bird needed an eye, and the only silver embellishment I had was Nuvo drops, so I tried Alexandra from Hedgehog Hollow's "instant Nuvo drops" technique by placing a small dot in the eye with a scoring stylus. It worked, although it wound up with a "meringue" center -- fortunately, that's okay for the eye.
