Mary is our hostess in the Color Challenge this week, and she has asked us to use Call Me Clover, Black and Gold for our cards this week. The dessert option is "anything goes."
I must give credit to Julee Tilman for the inspiration for this card. I used different ink colors, different stamps, a different greeting, and a slightly different technique for applying the inks to the background.
I used Distress Oxide colors that were close to the challenge colors, then smooshed, dried, smooshed again, etc. The key to this technique is to keep adding layers until you look at the piece and decide it's perfect! Once it was dry, I splattered the panel with white gouache (which doesn't show at all--I need to work on that) and some gold paint.
I stamped the shamrocks with VersaMark ink, then heat embossed with gold powder. My Scan 'n Cut did a great job of cutting them out right at the edge of the shamrocks. I stamped the crosshatch design and the greeting in black, added a few gold sequins, and popped up that panel on a layer of gold foil and a white card base.
Thanks for stopping by, and please play along with us this week!

Barbara, you did incredibly artistic bg....just lovely. The gold embossed shamrocks/clover look so elegant. It would be a wonderful birthday card for someone with a March birthday.
