This weeks F4A is Celebrate YOUR month. My birthday is in September and sapphire is my gemstone. I love the depth you can find in a sapphire.
I've been dragging my feet creating a sympathy card for a dear friend. The Birthday challenge was just the impetus I needed to translate my feelings. When I created this Gelli Print Scrap page, literally this was the page I rolled off my brayer. I couldn't trash it. And so these blue hues were absolutely perfect for my starry skies.
First I cut the star band on an edge. I underlaid the stars with another shimmery play page. Then I tore each edge. It was mounted on PTI 'Shadow' and then my card base is PTI 'White'. I stamped the sentiment onto an scrap piece of the same paper. It was embossed with PSX 'Silver Pearl' ep. I cut out the first two lines of the quote and mounted it on the front.
The rest was torn and trimmed and placed inside the card. I also used the strip scrap to frame out the inside. It looks like it should be there...heaven opening...
I just knew the Tim key 'Heart' needed to be there. It made the front quite heavy, so I used staples...surprise.
Sympathy cards are never easy to buy or create. I am heart-broken for my friend, but as the sentiment says....
PERHAPS THEY ARE
not stars in the sky,
BUT RATHER OPENINGS
in Heaven where the
LOVE OF OUR LOST ONES
pours through
AND SHINES DOWN
to let us know they are happy.

I'm pleased to be the first to comment.....SQUEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could leave it right there, I think. This speaks to my heart today. My late brother Bill was a jigsaw puzzler. He even made them and when he died, he had a whole room full of boxes of puzzles. Today I made the decision to carry on and be a puzzler. I have one that I never got the chance to give him and that will be the first. But my other brother reminded me 'don't put the last piece in, that's for mom.' She couldn't do puzzles any more but Bill saved the last piece for her, then she could say she finished it. So I will have one piece left over.

Oh Susan this is one very special card....you always put your heart into them. I just read how this moved Jean. The sentiment seems so right for someone grieving. TFS

MAGNIFICENT, Susan!!! Truly a masterpiece of a card for your friend. Love your abstract art and really meaningful sentiment. I knew you were a September baby without even starting to read your description....the sapphire's "fire" was there.

Gorgeous sapphire blue. That poem is one of the best, isn't it, and so fitting for a sympathy card of course. I love the addition of the heart key. Touching.

What a wonderful card for your friend! The deep blue of the sapphire are perfectly represented and the sentiment is amazing. (You might want to enclose a tissue with this card before mailing).
