I have been *dying* to use this stamp set! The horse-lover in me did not hesitate one second to order it when I saw SU's Occasions release this year, but to be truthful, I was having a hard time deciding what to do with it. I like to color my images, and the "brushstroke-like" outline images don't make that easy, yet just stamping it in black ink doesn't do much for me!
I realized Wednesday night that the hardest part is always beginning (as it is in all things in life) so just decided to dive right in and see what I came up with - my only "idea" going into this was to give this stamp set some love!
I ended up drawing inspiration from three SCS challenges from the past week:
CC725 - Very Vanilla, Night of Navy, Blushing Bride (I subbed Calypso Coral because that's the closest I had)
SC735
F4A467 - "I Might Use That One Day" - you know those strips of cardstock that you save thinking "oh, I could use that again?" I have sooooooo many of those, especially in my neutral base colors! So, the very vanilla, calypso coral, *and* night of navy cardstock I used all came from said stash (aside from my card base panel itself).
I had to wait to see what this looked like in the daylight before posting (there's really poor lighting in our house after sunset!), and thought I'd add more to it afterward, but I like how it turned out as it is just fine!
The larger very vanilla/embossed panel is raised with foam mounting dots, as well as the foreground "flag" panel featuring the horse head heat embossed with copper embossing powder.
Thank you all so much for viewing my card and *huge* thanks to the challenge hostesses for helping me get these stamps inky!
Blessings,
C

This is lovely and perfect for the horse lover. I really like your embossed background, it is gorgeous. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has poor lighting in my house! Great use of both the sketch and the color challenges.

I totally understand your struggle trying to bring a particular stamp to life on a card, but I think you've done a wonderful job with this handsome horse image against a vintage style embossed background and using the banners as the setting. So glad the CC colors worked for you in making this beautiful card!

Fabulous combination of challenges! Terrific background. The image is perfect on the banner. I like how you matted the banners in the Navy color. Good for you jumping in and trying out your new stamp set. You made a wonderful card! TFS

So glad to see your CAS take using this new SU horse set. I’ve been on the fence about ordering it because I couldn’t see myself coming up with a credible way to color so it looked good. Voila! You solve the problem by leaving it uncolored! Thanks for thinking outside the box on this one....i will be buying this set in my next order!
