This card was made as a Design Team card for a masculine themed challenge.
I had recently gone to a scrapbook expo where of course I discovered new ideas like making your own micro fine glitter paper, then coloring it with alcohol markers. I purchased the 'Beer Party" vinyl stickers from Krazy Kreatons because of my SIL's love of craft beer.
A great tutorial on the "Colored Glitter Inlay" technique can be found at Colored Glitter Inlay Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers. My variation was to use black vinyl stickers on top of the glitter cardstock I had created with super wide Scor-Tape on top of a scrap piece of white cardstock. Then I colored inside the stickers with Copic markers.
For the beer barrel, I used Copic Markers E13, E15, E18, YR27, and BG78. For the beer mugs I used Y04, Y11, Y15, and B01. This technique is super easy, and since black vinyl is resistant to the markers, you don't have to be super careful when you color your image.
The background for the main card panel was created by repeatedly stamping "beer bubbles" from the 1997 SU "Fish Frolic" stamp set using SU So Saffron ink on white cardstock. I then sponged lightly over the entire stamped bubbles to make the "liquid" look like beer.
The base of the main panel is a scrap of wood pattern paper. I created the barrel hoop using gray cardstock that I sponged on the top and the bottom with black ink, leaving the center the original gray color.
The beer barrel panel was mounted over the main panel using adhesive foam strips. The barrel had been glued directly to the white panel, the the top beer mug was attached using mini glue dots only on the left side where it would be over the white background. Because the top-most mug would overlap both the barrel and the first mug, I used strips of adhesive foam strips only on the left side to attach it directly to the white panel.
I am rating the difficulty level of this car as a "3" out of a possible "5" only because of the need to make your own micro fine glitter paper. You can buy it already made up, but be SURE it's micro fine so that it will easily take your colors.
I think my Son-In-Law will enjoy his card this year!
