I actually created 3 of this card--1 each for my counselor & 2 friends. I was glad that I was able to use a rainbow color scheme for the bargello background!
I stamped the image onto a piece of watercolor paper with Versafine. (Sorry, but this is an old stamp, & I apparently didn't note the manufacturer or name--if it was even labeled--when I unmounted it.) I die cut the oval before coloring, so if I messed that up (hey, it's happened!), all the coloring didn't go to waste. I used my Inktense pencils to color the fish & lily pads, looking at a photo I'd found online for reference. After the coloring had dried, I applied clear water to the paper around the image with a brush, and then applied a blue wash from one of my Inktense pencils. I wanted the blue to be concentrated right around the koi & lily pads, and fade out from there to create a kind of shadow effect.
I created my bargello background following the tutorial. I used a rainbow assortment of patterned paper pieces from my scrap stash. It's really a good way to use up those scraps that aren't enough for a full card panel on their own! Once I had everything adhered, I matted that with a piece of navy cardstock cut slightly smaller than A2 size. I adhered my image oval, & mounted the finished card front to a white A2 card base.
