This was the first card I ever uploaded: Lovely Clare 3 by jkanack at Splitcoaststampers
It was a card in honor of my first granddaughter Clare's birth March 31, 2011. The previous several years were very painful for me and I've always given Clare the credit of making my life worth living. She will be 8 so this is her birthday card. I just video chatted with her, told her I already made her birthday card and she immediately went to 'is there a present?' Hey, we haven't even done Christmas together yet. One special day at a time! I used today's TLC for the background (probably the first ef I bought) and because I had just picked the dead oxalis leaf off the plant, I did my favorite technique from 2018: duoprinting with chlorophyll. It was Lydia's DTGD, I think and I was completely fascinated by it. I used the little flower stamp I had used on my old card, stamped it in Versamark on a scrap of a leftover gelli print and embossed with clear ep. I used staples like I did on the old card and a round main image. I'll do some mushy Grandma stuff inside.
BTW, the only person who commented on my first card was Susan (one4joy) and she told me I was mixed media before the herd. Hahahahahaha, I couldn't stop laughing when I re-read that. Oh and if you look at the old card, I used a page from Lord of the Rings. She was so tiny (under 5 lbs. when she came home) that I called her my hobbit.

How special to recreate that first card, especially with the poignant story behind it.. My first grand daughter was born in March 30th, 2005 and she weighed in at only four pounds - scary days, but she's a healthy teenager now : )
You've inspired me to go back and look at my first upload and see if there were any comments!

What a darling birthday card this is for a very special granddaughter. I so enjoyed reading your "trip down memory lane" too. Isn't it amazing how a wee little "hobbit" brought so much sunshine into your life, and now you are bringing so much sunshine into her life with your beautiful cards! Happy New Year to you and I hope 2019 is especially good to you too! `Karen.

I'll bet your granddaughter is so anxious to see the card now! I hope you can share it with her soon. It is lovely and the first one you made for her is as well!

Love that your granddaughter inspired your creativity and love that you used her card for your inspiration for this stunning card for her. Both are wonderfully put together. It is fun to go back on older cards and recreate them with out new tools and style of card crafting now.
