Replaced with a better daylight photo with less glare from the cans
For Anna's Jolly Snowman MIXed media challenge. I'm pretty much done with Christmas cards but thought I'd make this for a guy in work who is unfailingly cheerful, friendly and helpful even though I only ever seem to be asking him for something.
The background started out as some oxidised shaving foam, not very successful. When experimenting for last week's TLC I used black soot and cling wrap and dabbed all over it thinking it might make a galaxy or Northern Lights, but it still just sat there. Today I used more cling wrap and dabbed chipped sapphire all over to make more of a night sky, and then stencilled it with white acrylic. Two layers of torn paper make the foreground, with some Stickles scribbled on.
The snowman was cut from a Guinness can, and a Carlsberg one gave me some very effective snow-sprinkled trees as well as his scarf and the holly leaves. I matted it on good Guinness colours (black and cream) and added lots of gold Stickles. Sentiment from Lots of Thoughts.

actual soot? or Distress ink soot? anyway, experimenting is a good thing, just think about all the inventions that have happened by 'experimenting.' This is a very awesome looking card. I'll be honest, I usually don't pay a lot of attention to creations featuring alcohol, temperance person that I am, but this one is too cool not to comment on. And it's perfect for your co-worker.

I'm always impressed with your backgrounds. I love your snowman made out of cans. I don't think there is one can in my house so I need to change that, especially since there are so many interesting cans available nowadays. Very pretty!

This is way cool! Your coworker will LOVE this! It's so creative and sure to be cherished. I die cut a soda can once and that was enough for me, so I tip my hat to you, my friend

If Vincent was born in the era of Guinness, I would have thought it was his work LOL. Sabrina this is fabulous. I'm glad you persisted with the background. Your work colleague is in for a real treat!!

Persistence truly pays off. I hardly ever toss anything that's iffy, knowing that it could become something spectacular, it just needs to wait a while for the discovery happens. This is so fun and awesome and filled with the recycled glisten. Your co-worker will be very touched.
