After I decided on my sketch, I opened the ornament image in Photoshop. I sized it to fit, and printed it on a panel of 140 lb. watercolor paper. I used my Mission Gold watercolors to paint it. I took my color inspiration from the patterned papers I chose, which had desaturated turquoise and red. Once my watercolor had dried, I beefed up the highlights on the ornament with a white gel pen, and added Stickles to the red parts on the upper part of the ornament.
I cut my patterned paper strips, making sure to keep the designs on them to where they'd be upright when I added them to the card. I actually cut them longer than I knew I needed them, just to make sure they'd be long enough. I adhered them to a red card front, and trimmed off the excess. I added my ornament panel, and glued on a bow that I tied with some silver cording. Finally, I mounted the card front to a white card base.
