I got the inspiration for my card from this one by Patty Gorka. I liked the tag shape she had in the center, highlighting that part of the scene. I wanted to do more of a winter sunset look for my sky, so I googled "winter sunset." I found this photo, and used that as a guide for my color scheme.
Since I wanted the snow to be basically white on my card, I die cut the bottom portion off with a "Snow Drifts" die. I know, hindsight being 20/20, that I could have die cut a mask and just used that on my panel. But I sometimes just have to make things harder than they need to be! I inked the sky with Carved Pumpkin, Picked Raspberry, Tattered Rose, Salty Ocean, and a bit of Chipped Sapphire at the top. I also added a touch of Wild Honey along the top of the snow portion, just for an added glow.
To stamp my trees, I first taped the 2 parts of my card panel back together--adding the tape on the back of the panel, of course! I placed the panel in my MISTI (a truly heaven-sent tool!), and stamped the trees in Versafine. I had to double-stamp them, of course, because they were going across the die cut line. Which demonstrates the necessity of the MISTI, imho!
I used a ruler & craft knife to cut the center portion of my panel out. I matted it with a 1/16" border of navy cardstock, making sure to adhere the bottom (die cut) section lined up with the top. After mounting the outer portion of my scene to a white card base, I adhered the matted piece, being careful to line everything up.
I stamped my greeting (from "Color Layering Wreath") in Versafine on the center piece. I also went over the stamped lines on the ground with a white gel pen, just to knock them back a bit. (With the double-stamping and using black ink, they had gotten rather bold.) Finally, I added Ice Stickles in the color Crystal Ice to the tree branches, along the die cut hill, and at the base of each tree. The Ice Stickles has larger pieces of glitter, so I just find that the sparkle is a bit more intense. I really love how this card came out, though maybe next time I'll just cut a mask for the snow....
