It is my pleasure to be your hostess in the Color Challenge this week. I am already pining for spring, so I have chosen colors that lend themselves to that season: Granny Apple Green, Balmy Blue, Berry Burst and Pineapple Punch. The dessert option this week is NBUS! (Never Been Used Stamp)
I love monthly subscription kits, but sometimes they seem to pile up on me, and those oh-so-pretty stamps don't see ink! I thought it might be fun for all of us to pull out a stamp that we've never used and show it some love.
This floral stamp was from a kit back last spring or summer, and I've never used it. I started out by stamping the image with VersaMark on watercolor paper, then covering with white embossing powder and heat setting. I was surprised that so much of the image was solid white, with little space for me to drop in my watercolors.
My first layer of paint was just a very pale wash of each color. After that was dry, I went back with a stronger concentration of the same colors and filled in the areas that might be darker on flowers and leaves, and then blended with a damp brush. I added a pale blue wash around the image, leaving the top of the card white. Stamped the greeting and added a few sequins, and mounted on a Berry Burst card base.
Thanks for stopping by, and please play along with us this week.

this is such a pretty floral image Barbara- and I love your watercoloring. Great colors this week and the DT has created such a wide variety of cards using these colors.

Love that you embossed the flowers in white first! I have had that happen to me before. But it turned out beautifull! Thanks for a great combination of colors!
