Do you ever have a card that just seems to drive itself? This one certainly did.
First idea was to swipe all the color challenge colors on some foil, spray and dip in the paper. The cherry ended up with some pink spots and the blue and peacock kind of ran together in a dark blobby mess. I thought I would fix some of it by using a plaid stencil. My sponge wasn't clean and kind of made a mess and you couldn't see the plaid very well. Then I saw the TLC challenge was to doodle plaid so I doodled on some plaid. It was still dark in some spots so I used another stencil and rubbed on some white paint. I liked it. Stamped the images and sentiment and decided it was done. A few hours later came back and added some Stickles and gel pen highlights.
Another sympathy card choice for my daughter.

Beautifully done, Nancy, and I really like your plaid doodling. I can see it really well.

Wow, so much to look at and yet so easy to pick out each part that you made by your explanation, Nancy! I own 2 stencils-circle and stripes and I have never even used them! I wouldn't know what to do with a fancy stencil, but you certainly do!

Wow Nancy I'm so glad you persisted and allowed this card to take on a life of its own. I love all the steps you did, and the end result is fabulous. Thanks for all the details too.

Nancy, what an amazing process, making it better with each additional element. I especially like the white paint that looks like a bright light shining on a stained glass window with the branch silhouette caught in the view. Gorgeous card and fantastic results for the challenge!
